Bishop Charles E. Marshall was born March 25, 1953 to Alonzo Marshall Jr. and Mary Jones Marshall in Delhi, Louisiana. He is the youngest of three children and grew up with three older sisters, Pat, Helen and Betty Joe.

Charles had a heart for God at an early age, which his father Alonzo Marshall Jr. instilled in him as they took long walks in Delhi on the way to church. Also, as youngster, Charles participated in many sporting activities. He excelled in track and field earning a scholarship to a college in Arkansas. He graduated from Ester Toombs High School in Delhi and instead of attending college, he elected to enlist in the United States Army in 1972 and again in 1992. Charles E. Marshall was married in Delhi in 1970 to Delphine Washington Marshall and to this union came two girls, Ackivah and Natisha as well as one boy, Undra, which produced eight grandchildren.

On July 10, 2005, Reverend Charles E. Marshall was installed as the eight Pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church. Under his leadership, we have accomplished much, for which, we are eternally grateful. New Bethel Baptist Church now owns most of the entire block on which it is located, except for two small parcels. New Bethel Baptist Church also owns several parcels in the East Las Vegas tract beginning at Revere and I.W. Wilson Avenue. On the New Bethel Campus, we own four apartments and will start new renovations to the property soon.

Focusing on the future and starting a new beginning, Charles E. Marshall married Deborah R. Tunstall on July 15, 2017 at New Bethel Baptist Church. Pastor Charles E. Marshall was consecrated to Bishop on August 30, 2020, after sixteen years of faithful service.

We have come this far steadfast and immoveable in the faith knowing that our God-fearing leader Bishop Charles E. Marshall will not fail with God’s hand!!
